Setting up your first AI Agent:

Step 1: Create a Project:

  • This is where you add the key elements that will feature in your first Agent. Each project has its own Data Sources, Model and Prompts.
  • Look for the ‘Projects’ header in the side menu and click the ‘+’ sign next to it.
  • Enter a Name for your project, provide a Description to outline its purpose, add an Icon and click ‘Create’.

Step 2: Add your Model(s):
Models are what are generally referred to as “AI” - think ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, etc. You want to pick a model that fits your needs. Each provider offers multiple models at varying levels to fit needs and budgets. Our model library provides descriptions on each and the associated costs of the models.

  • From your project, select ‘Models’ from the headers, then ‘New Model’ in the top right.
  • Select a model to see full details and decide which models you want to test for best fit. For each model you want to add, click ‘Add to Project’.
  • Review the Model details and click ‘Add’. Changes here are optional, not necessary.
    • Tip: Models like GPT-4o Mini and Claude 3 Opus are more cost-effective models. You can also test more advanced models like ChatGPT 4o or Claude 3.5 Sonnet which can hand more complex requests, the token usage reflects this increase in capability so it’s important to test which model works for you.

Step 3: Add your Data Sources:

Adding Data Sources is a good step to getting the most from Airia. It provides your Agent with reference material to support your questions.

  • From your project, select ‘Data Sources’ from the headers and click ‘New Data Source” in the top right. You will be shown our connectors list.
  • Select the connector of choice.
    • Tip: We recommend you start with a ‘File upload’ to drag and drop you files as you learn to build your first Agent.
  • Name your Data Source to open the upload screen then click ‘Upload Files’ in the top right.
  • Drag and drop or browse your directory to upload your files and press ‘Upload’. Once your documents process, you can close the window.

Step 4: Build your Agent: Agents bring it all together allowing your your files, models and prompts to interact before providing your users with the responses in the chat.

  • From your project, select the ‘Agents’ header and click ‘New Agent’ in the top right. This takes you to the builder.
  • In the top left, name your Agent in line with the purpose the Agent will fulfil.
    • Tip: This helps users pick which Agent to use when you have multiple.
  • From the builder menu, drag and drop a Data Source and a Model onto the canvas. Cards for will appear with connection points on both sides.
  • Join the Input to your Data Source by dragging a line between the dots on the two cards. Do the same between the Data Source and Model. Connect your Model to your Output.
  • Congratulations, you have built an Agent to help you ‘Chat’ with your documents and answer any questions!
    • Tip: Make sure you save your creation by clicking ‘Save Agent’ in the top right.
  • Test your Agent using the ‘Test’ function to learn how it responds based on the questions you ask. Different models respond differently so test a couple before you deploy your agent.
    • Tip: Check our prompts guide on how to train your agent to respond and give it a personality for your users.
  • Once tested and ready for action, make sure the right version is the active version. In the top left of the builder, select the version you are happy with and clicking ‘Set Active’.

Step 5: Deploy your Agent:

  • From your project, select the ‘Agents’ header and find your Agent.
  • On the right side, click the options icon ‘…’ to show the menu. Select ‘Deploy to Chat’ and complete the fields to activate your Agent.
  • Test the user experience by heading to the bottom of the left-hand menu and selecting ‘Airia Chat’ under the ‘Apps’ heading and entering your prompts.
  • If multiple agents are active, Toggle between them using the options in the prompt field.
  • Don’t forget to add your End Users!
